The Blackstar Artisan 30 is a handwired, all-valve 2x12 combo that has quietly earned a devoted following among some of the most respected guitarists in British rock. Powered by four EL84 output valves through a pair of Celestion Vintage 30 speakers, the Artisan 30 delivers the warm, harmonically rich character of a classic British amplifier with a level of touch sensitivity and dynamic response that puts it in the company of top-tier boutique designs. Matty Healy of The 1975 rotated the Artisan 30 alongside a Vox AC30 and Orange AD30 during the band's debut era, praising its transparency. Richard Hawley, known for his work with Longpigs, Pulp, and a critically acclaimed solo career, described being immediately smitten, noting that the amp follows every nuance of your playing dynamics. Gaz Coombes of Supergrass called it a one-stop shop for vintage tones, while Steve Cradock of Ocean Colour Scene and Paul Weller's band liked it so much he runs three in a line. The amp's artist roster also includes Billy F. Channel 1 is built around an EF86 pentode valve, delivering fat, warm tones with smooth compression and a 5-way Bass Shape switch for dialing in low-end character. Channel 2 uses an ECC83 (12AX7) dual triode for highly dynamic clean and crunch tones, with a two-way Voice switch that toggles between bell-like brightness and warm, full-bodied drive. A triode/pentode mode switch drops power from 30W to 10W, introducing sought-after power amp saturation at manageable volumes.
