Description

This is a capture of a Big Muff-style fuzz pedal based on 1970s Black Finger-era parts, while recreating the circuit layout of a Rams Head-style unit. The basic sound is in the Rams Head family, but it also includes a Tone Bypass function inspired by later models. While a classic Big Muff sound is thick, smooth, and powerful, the standard tone circuit creates a heavily scooped midrange. By using the Tone Bypass mode, the midrange becomes more present and forward. With some additional EQ, you can slightly shape the mids while keeping the huge Big Muff character, making it work more like an amp-like fuzz. It is especially suitable for riffs, leads, and long-sustain solo tones. The transistor used is FS36999.
