Description

This is a capture of a tube overdrive / preamp inspired by the Kingsley Page. The tube is operated at a high voltage of around 300V, so it behaves much more like the first gain stage of a real guitar amplifier than a typical effect pedal. The circuit is mainly built around gain stages and a tone section, giving it a natural harmonic response and dynamic feel rather than a conventional pedal-like distortion. When used into a clean amp, it can make a standard Marshall-style sound feel more like a hot-rodded Marshall. It responds very well to picking dynamics and guitar volume changes, making it useful as a booster, low-gain overdrive, or amp-like preamp.
