It’s interesting how clearly you can hear the exact characteristics of the model just as it was built. Back then, I used to set the gain trimmer right in the middle so it wouldn't cut or boost, just add its own coloration. Give it a try as a subtle boost, or when you just need that little bit of Fender-style spank/snap! Peace!
