This capture is a sample of the GOSH Tone Chaser, recorded at Black Bear Studios in Gainesville, Florida. The Tone Chaser features four selectable gain structures, each representing a different stage of the amplifier’s gain range: Gain Structure 1 — The cleanest and most open setting, with maximum headroom and clarity. PRESENCE 7 | BASS 6 | MIDDLE 7 | TREBLE 6.5 | MASTER 5 | GAIN 6 Gain Structure 2 — Adds a touch of breakup and harmonic character while retaining the dynamics and openness of the cleaner setting. PRESENCE 7 | BASS 6 | MIDDLE 6.5 | TREBLE 6.5 | MASTER 5 | GAIN 10 The Capture We took considerable care to make these captures behave and sound as close to the physical amplifier as possible. The amplifier's input impedance was measured to ensure the correct input loading and the most accurate transfer possible. We also performed extensive listening and comparison tests throughout the capture process. Rather than relying solely on the sound coming from a load box, we used a M-style cabinet loaded with a Celestion Greenback and an SM57 as our real-world reference. We compared the captured tone against what we were actually hearing from the mic'd cabinet and adjusted our load-box setup accordingly to achieve the closest possible match. The goal was simple: capture the Tone Chaser as an amplifier, not just as a set of measurements. Captured and tested at Black Bear Studios — Gainesville, Florida.
