Description

In magnetic tape, hysteresis is the non-linear relationship between the applied magnetic field strength ( 𝐻 H, the audio signal) and the resulting magnetization ( 𝑀 M, the stored state on the tape particles). This phenomenon occurs because the magnetic domains within the tape's ferromagnetic coating resist changes in magnetization. This is an attempt to emulate it. (IMPORTANT) This is not an emulation of the Tape - it is an attempt to recreate the Hysteresis This profile is a digital capture of a 22-stage cascaded non-linear processing chain. The source setup consists of 22 sequential hysteresis functions using an 8th-order solver (NK8/NR8). Each subsequent stage increases the internal drive relative to the previous one, utilizing a fixed offset of 0.88 and a saturation coefficient of 1.0. Due to the high CPU overhead of the original continuous differential equation processing, the system was captured using the Neural Amp Modeler (NAM) framework. Because the source chain is entirely deterministic and free of stochastic analog noise, the neural network models the mathematical transfer function with ideal precision.
