For rhythm playing, the Jackman works particularly well with a moderate-gain crunch setting, a bridge humbucker, and relatively strong picking dynamics. Rolling the guitar's volume control back slightly can clean up the signal, while turning it up allows the preamp to produce more saturation. This interaction between the guitar volume, picking intensity, Gain, and EQ is an important part of achieving a responsive classic-rock tone.
For an AC/DC-type sound, the goal should not be extremely high distortion. The characteristic sound is closer to a loud, open British crunch with relatively low-to-moderate gain, pronounced mids, tight low frequencies, and clear high-end attack. A suitable speaker cabinet is also essential, because the speaker strongly influences the final frequency response and overall feel. With the right cabinet, EQ, guitar pickup, and playing dynamics, the Joyo Jackman can produce a convincing classic British-rock crunch suitable for riffs and rhythm parts inspired by AC/DC.
