MADWAVES MAD PLAYER 2000'S Odd Generative Synth Sampler Thingy !

MADWAVES MAD PLAYER Another thing from the drawers and cupboard's of odd weird stuff I've accumulated over the years. Bonus points if you know what this thing is! So, some twenty plus years ago this weird box came out, ahead of its time quite possibly given where we are with AI now, Its main thing was it was a generative music player but it samples and allowed you to record into it onto the smart media card! you could export your creations as MIDI or audio files. It also came with a snazzy set of headphones with a built in mic much like the things people in call centres wear now! Mine sadly have gone MIA so we can't replicate the tremendous qaulity of the mic sadly! It generated odd music in various genres and you could interact and change the instruments and sounds etc.. I used to push the mic input and record guitars into it either as samples or along with loops its magical algorithms created! It was nasty when pushed and had an odd pitch effect/pitch correction/harmony effect which i've tried to capture as a NAM as well. The logs suggest the pitchy stuff wasn't well liked but give them a listen see what you think....they don't quite sound like the odd metaly noise the unit produced but are quite interesting. There was also a really strange lo fi delay on the mic which also had the pitching effect so i've tried a few Impulse responses of that which will be up soon as well. If you have a minute, do look these up, they were well ahead of their time and had baffling controls you used when you were in the lane! it produced hours of odd quite brilliant or terrible music for me....
