Description

A first-party capture of my summing mixer's channel 1 and 2 transformers into Blue Velvet, texture knob at noon — the middle position, where the circuit is doing plenty without announcing itself. Iron on the way in, then the texture stage sitting balanced: weight and cohesion rather than obvious color. This is one setting pulled from the Blue Velvet NAM Set, which is already included free with NeuralOutboard — alongside Silver Tone Amp, Authentic Analog Tape Sound (2x Tape Hysteresis Units), The Cobalt Box, The Black Mojo Box, Magic Box Program EQ, and Vintage Germanium 57 EQ Pre. The bigger news is what's just shipped alongside it. NeuralOutboard 3.2 runs the neural model on your GPU. One button in the header, no setup, nothing to configure — Metal on macOS, Direct3D 12 on Windows. Two things come out of that. The first is headroom everywhere else: work the graphics card takes on is work your CPU isn't doing, so that time goes straight back to the rest of your session. Most graphics cards sit close to idle while you mix, and this puts them to work. The second is oversampling — settings that simply weren't practical before become usable, and the higher you go, the more the GPU gives back. I've tested it on everything from a current desktop to a laptop nearly ten years old, and on the old machine it's the difference between a setting working at all and not. There's also a second GPU mode that adds no latency whatsoever, for tracking and monitoring through the plugin, and the plugin now tells you in the corner whether it's running on CPU or GPU and which device. NeuralOutboard is my dual-slot NAM mixing plugin for macOS and Windows — A/B slots, M/S, gain matching, delta monitoring, oversampling, built for running studio-gear captures exactly like this one. NAM Sets are morphable multi-capture presets: one knob sweeps continuously through every capture in the bank. Free 14-day trial at dbdspaudio.com. More coming.

Nice! We are all in desperate need of GPU-based NAM processing, I'm surprised this hasn't been addressed by more people yet.

Your work is great. If possible; how would you compare it to the Stuart's AnalogX?, I'm not requesting for an agressive judgin', but for the most objective possible one. Thx in advance.
