Description

P&PS: The "Plug & Play" Series Returns! What's up, everyone! How's it going? Today I'm bringing you an Alice In Hell Tone that has me totally stoked! About the P&PS: Alice In Hell Tone (AIH): For this one, I used my JCM800 NAM profile, boosted it with the overdrive profile that our buddy robyrocks recently posted (that thing is killer!), and finished it off with some IRs I had lying around. I feel this gets me super close to the sound Jeff Waters used back in the day on the AIH recording... that raw, ear-piercing Marshally guitar tone! What I Used for the P&PS: Alice In Hell Tone: -Boss Overdrive OD-1 NAM (Everything set to 5) [https://www.tone3000.com/tones/rr-chief-od-1-43527] -MARSHALL JCM800 2203X 100W CH High (B: 7.1, M: 6.4, T: 4.3, G: 10) [https://www.tone3000.com/tones/marshall-jcm800-2203x-100w-hot-mod-v2-41356] -IRs: Marshall 1960a G12H 25 (Mic SM57 on Axis CAP, Marshall 1960a G12H 25 Mic C87 On Axis CONE). There are 4 Profiles Available: 00: Pedals+Amp+Cabs: Just Plug In and Play!. 01: Amp+Cabs: If you want to boost it with your own pedal of choice. 02: Amp: Use whatever pedal, cab, or IR you want. 03: Pedals+Amp+Cabs "My Personal Taste" (MPT): Same as 00, but with my personal tweaks on the pedal. My Boost Pedal Settings: -Some Boss OD-1 (L:Max, G:0, T: 1 O'C). -Some 10 Band EQ Plugin to Boost 500 around 5, slightly reduce the other bands in a V inversed shape but not much. Quick Lingo Check: O'C = O'Clock B, M, T = Bass, Mids, Treble/Tone G = Gain (Pre-Amp) L = Level MPT = My Personal Taste Fun Tone Fact: Story goes that Jeff used his own Marshall JCM800 2203, boosted with the original Boss OD-1 and the original cab (I couldn't find notes on the cab specs, but for those years, it was likely a 1960a loaded with G12H 25... the classic choice!). Up Next: Demolition Hammer's Tortured Existence! Stay tuned!
