Description

Captures of my Supercool Pedals "The Thneed". The Thneed is a Klon-style overdrive with a few tricks up its sleeve. Four clipping diode options plus a "Diode Lift" option, and an "Unless" switch, which introduces more bass frequencies into the gain stage, and completely changes the feel and texture of the pedal. Treble boosts or cuts the high frequencies above 1kHz (with the neutral position being right at noon), Level is the overall output, and Gain controls the amount of signal fed into the op amp and clipping, as well as controlling the clean blend of the pedal. This pack contains captures of the Silicon mode, which uses 1N4148 Silicon switching diodes. This is the stock clipping mode of the pedal, and it has a smooth character with medium amounts of compression, and is relatively transparent. Great for any application! (Stay tuned for packs with all four other clipping options!) All captures calibrated at 14 dBu input, and each capture output has been calibrated respectively. All captures have the Level knob set to max, with varying degrees of brightness and gain. (Captures that aren't marked "Captured on T3K" were captured through the Juniper NAM Trainer, but I made sure they all met my expectations) The gain levels are labelled A through F. A = Gain @ minimum B = Gain @ 9 o'clock C = Gain @ 10:30 (between 9 o'clock and noon) D = Gain @ noon E = Gain @ 1:30 (between noon and 3 o'clock) F = Gain @ 3 o'clock The brightness levels are labeled 1 through 5. 1 = Treble @ 9 o'clock 2 = Treble @ 10:30 (between 9 o'clock and noon) 3 = Treble @ noon (neutral, no boost or cut) 4 = Treble @ 1:30 (between noon and 3 o'clock) 5 = Treble @ 3 o'clock Captures labelled "UN" have the "Unless" switch engaged. The "Si" label means it is the Silicon clipping option. I decided to try for an in-depth pack, without going insane. For that reason, I didn't include the extremes of the Treble knob, and only captured the Gain knob up to 3 o'clock. Signal chain: Avid Mbox Studio (line out) > Radial Reamp Station (reamp box) > Thneed > Avid Mbox Studio (instrument input) I love the way these turned out, so let me know what you think! Check out my "Diode Lift" pack for this killer pedal, and keep an eye out for the remaining three clipping modes! Thanks for checking em out!
