Description

JHS Overdrive Preamp β€” #75 Vintage Mode (Complete Gain Sweep, 1-10) This is a comprehensive, meticulously calibrated 10-capture pack of the JHS Overdrive Preamp running exclusively in the #75 Mode. The #75 setting utilizes asymmetric germanium diodes to accurately replicate the rare, early "gray box" DOD 250 circuit. It delivers a wild, highly compressed, and beautifully fuzzy distortion that cleans up exceptionally well with your guitar's volume knob at lower gain settings and turns into a roaring wall of vintage saturation when cranked. πŸŽ›οΈ Pack Details & Capture Strategy β€’ Controls: The Level knob was pinned at 10 across all profiles to maximize output stage saturation and dynamics. The Gain knob was swept sequentially from 1 through 10. β€’ The Full-Dynamic Sweeps (Gains 1–9): Captured at strict unity gain with a completely unattenuated signal chain. All models in this range achieved hyper-accurate training scores under 0.00xx ESR. β€’ The Max-Gain Sweep (Gain 10): To tame the heavy analog hiss inherent to this vintage germanium circuit at maximum saturation, the input signal was padded by -6 dB prior to the pedal. This resulted in an exceptionally tight, low-noise model landing at a highly accurate 0.0132 ESR πŸ“ Calibration & Hardware Metadata Send and Return calibrations were "baked-in". But, if you need to manually enter the calibrations, here are the numbers: β€’ Profiles 1 through 9: β€’ Send Calibration: +20.0 dBu β€’ Return Calibration: +20.0 dBu β€’ Profile 10 (Max Gain Fix): β€’ Send Calibration: +14.0 dBu (reflecting the physical -6 dB input pad) β€’ Return Calibration: +20.0 dBu πŸ› οΈ Signal Chain β€’ Guitar DI βž” Fractal Axe-Fx III (Output 3 / Unity) βž” JHS Overdrive Preamp βž” Axe-Fx III (Input 3 / Unity) βž” DAW βž” NAM (Trained via enterprise-grade A100 compute) This pedal can be used many ways. I like to use it as a stand alone drive in front of a clean amp. But, I also like to use other drives in front of it such as an Xotic Effects AC Booster v2 or a Wampler Tumnus. It makes for a potent pairing either way you use it. One tip though, when paired in front of an amp, make your eq adjustments on the amp. When running another drive into it, make the eq adjustments from the JHS Overdrive Preamp. Basically, whichever is second in line is where the eq adjustments work best. Of course, there are no rules and YMMV. Rock on! \m/
