Description

Fender Tone-Master (Revision E) – Neural Amp Modeler Pack This pack contains six Neural Amp Modeler captures based on a digital recreation of the Revision E Fender Tone-Master (schematic dated April 17, 1997). Rather than capturing a physical amplifier, the original tube circuit was recreated directly from the factory schematic and simulated in software before being captured with Neural Amp Modeler. The original prototype was developed in Celine, an open-source real-time circuit simulator for audio electronics. For this release, the amplifier has also been rebuilt in my own C++ circuit simulation engine, which reproduces the updated Celine reference model to within approximately 1% while serving as the foundation for future standalone amplifier plugins. The included amplifier settings are based on those used by Dave Grohl's live Tone-Master heads throughout the Foo Fighters' touring rigs from 2011 onward. What's New - Corrected the input gain to more accurately match the gain structure of the original amplifier. - Rebuilt the amplifier using my own C++ circuit simulation engine. - Combined both channels into a single amplifier model while preserving the original channel behavior and incorporating aspects of the shared power supply, including supply sag. - Added optional cabinet versions using an experimental speaker simulation. - The original Celine-based prototype captures are still included for comparison. Included Captures Original Prototype Captures (Celine) Channel A - Fat: Off - Volume: 4 - Treble: 6 - Mid: 6.5 - Bass: 2.5 Channel B - Fat: On - Gain: 4 - Treble: 4.5 - Mid: 7.5 - Bass: 7 - Volume: 8 These are the original captures released from the Celine simulation. Updated Engine Captures (C++) The same amplifier settings are included using my new simulation engine. For each channel: - Direct amplifier capture - Experimental cabinet version Experimental Cabinet Simulation The cabinet versions use an experimental speaker simulation created from published frequency response data for the Celestion Vintage 30 loudspeaker and the Shure SM57 microphone. Because I don't currently have access to the original hardware to measure a true impulse response, these versions should be considered an approximation intended to provide a usable starting point rather than an exact cabinet recreation. For the most authentic experience, I recommend using the direct captures with your preferred cabinet IRs. About the Project This project was inspired by fellow TONE3000 user 83ennui, whose SPICE-modeled amplifier and pedal captures demonstrated that this approach was practical for creating Neural Amp Modeler profiles. The goal of this project is to preserve and recreate classic amplifier designs from their original schematics while making them accessible to the NAM community. Original Fender Tone-Master heads are relatively uncommon and are often overshadowed online by Fender's modern Tone Master digital amplifier series, leaving few software recreations of the original tube amplifier available. If reliable documentation exists, my goal is to recreate the amplifier as faithfully as possible in software and make those recreations available through Neural Amp Modeler today, with native plugins planned for the future. I hope you enjoy the pack. If you have any questions, suggestions, or feedback, I'd love to hear from you.
