Description

Pedal-only capture of an Oliver SD-10 Super Over Drive, a Brazilian-made, Roland-licensed version of the Boss SD-1. No amp, no cabinet: just the pedal. How to use: place it in front of an amp model or capture, or in front of a real amp. Straight into a cab IR it will sound harsh, like any overdrive pedal without an amp. Settings: Drive 10 | Tone 6 | Level 10 Tone: the SD-1 circuit wide open. Its asymmetrical clipping, with two diodes on one side of the wave and one on the other, adds even-order harmonics for a more amp-like breakup with a slightly granular texture. The voice is midrange-focused but keeps more low end than a Tube Screamer, so it sounds fuller and more open. With Drive and Level maxed, it gives plenty of saturation and a hot output that pushes the next amp hard. Great for adding grit and sustain to a clean amp, or for tightening and pushing an already driven one.
