The SD-10 is a Brazilian-made, Roland-licensed version of the Boss SD-1. Drive and Level are maxed out, hitting the amp’s clean channel hard. The pedal is part of the capture, so play it straight with no overdrive in front. Preamp-only capture: recorded straight from the preamp output, before the power amp and speaker. No cabinet is included, so pair it with a cab IR of your choice. The GT208 has a hybrid preamp: a solid-state front end and tone stack, followed by a single tube stage at the output that adds warmth to the pedal’s clipping. Settings: SD-10: Drive 10 | Tone 6 | Level 10 Amp: Clean channel | Bass 4 | Middle 9 | Treble 6 | Presence 6 | Reverb off Tone: a full, gritty overdrive with the pedal wide open. The SD-1 circuit clips asymmetrically, with two diodes on one side of the wave and one on the other. That adds even-order harmonics for a more amp-like breakup and a slightly granular texture that cuts through a mix. Compared to a Tube Screamer, it keeps more low end, so it sounds fuller and more open. The amp’s Middle at 9 keeps the voice mid-forward, Bass at 4 keeps it tight, and Tone, Treble and Presence at 6 keep the attack clear. A classic pedal-into-clean-amp drive for rock, riffs and solos.
