Arlington Audio - Neural Amp Modeler + IR pack ------------------------------------------ Peavey Decade Back in the 80's, Peavey put out a line of amplifiers that were budget friendly and small. Great for the budding guitarist to mess around with to get started, though in the minds of most it wasn't really intended to last much longer than that. Fast forward about 40 odd years to the Apple produced series "Watch the Sound", a sheepish looking Josh Homme wanders off to retrieve a small amp from his collection. He reveals it as being the origin of his signature sound. The Peavey Decade! I personally believe this is a load of bullhonky but if you plug a bass into the saturated channel, you pretty much get the bass tone for "No One Knows" so I'm sure he's used it here and there. Maybe even learned on it? Who knows. Anyway, hooking it up to my load box with electrical tape (sah pro), I was kinda shocked at how amazing this thing sounded with a decent impulse response backing it up! I love the tone the speaker it came with gives, its filthy. But I also like how it stands up as a decent preamp in its own right. Being that this is a combo amp and it's known for a particular sound, I felt it important to capture the speaker in a set of IRs. You'll note that the tone changes DRASTICALLY between each IR with the Ribbon mic giving a very close "Songs For The Deaf" bass tone approximation.
