Description

A huge thanks to a local concert backline rental company who kindly lent us this legendary Roland JC-120 combo, supporting our community effort on the ToneGrid plugin project! 🀝 This collection consists of Direct Head Captures taken straight from the JC-120's Line Out interface. Because these are line-level pre/power amp captures without speaker cab emulation, they are designed to be paired with your favorite IRs (Impulse Responses) or cabinet software. πŸŽ›οΈ CALIBRATION & HARDWARE ROUTING As with all my NAM releases, levels and signal paths were rigorously standardized: β€’ πŸ”€ Signal Chain: MOTU M4 (+16 dBu send attenuated by 8.5 dBu via Radial X-Amp to reach target +7.5 dBu) βž” Roland JC-120 βž” Line Out βž” Klark Teknik DI βž” MOTU M4 Preamp (+10.2 dB gain for 0 dBu return). β€’ πŸ”• All built-in modulation (Chorus, Vibrato) and Reverb were completely bypassed during profiling to ensure a clean, raw capture of the amp's core response. πŸ“Š PACK STRUCTURE OVERVIEW The pack contains 13 NAM captures categorized into Guitar and Bass presets: 🎸 GUITAR PRESETS (9 Captures) β€’ 🧊 Clean: 2 profiles exploring Channel 1 in both Smooth and Dynamic/Bright configurations. β€’ ⚑ Edge: 2 profiles capturing Channel 2 at the edge-of-breakup with Smooth and Dynamic variations. β€’ πŸ₯Š Crunch: 3 profiles spanning Channel 2 across Light, Classic, and Pushed saturation levels. β€’ πŸ”₯ Lead: 2 high-gain profiles tuned for Rounded and Cut solo responses. 🎸 BASS PRESETS (4 Captures) β€’ 🧊 Clean: 2 profiles featuring Channel 1 dialed for Smooth headroom and Punchy attack. β€’ ⚑ Edge & Drive: 2 profiles capturing Channel 2 for subtle Growl and full Bass Drive textures. πŸ’‘ USAGE TIPS β€’ ✨ The JC-120 provides a famously clean, solid-state platform. Use the Bright switch profiles when you need extra top-end chime for Funk or clean rhythm work. β€’ πŸŽ›οΈ The Edge and Crunch profiles capture the unique transistor clipping characteristic of the JC-120, making them excellent foundations for stacking external drive pedals in front. β€’ πŸ”Š The Bass profiles leverage the massive headroom of the circuit, offering tight low-mids and solid low-end control. Feel free to test them out with your IR collection and drop your feedback! πŸš€
