Caline Mellow Drive (Dumble/ZenDrive-style Overdrive) — 3 Voice Modes, 2 Gain Stages Each Caline is a company known for its affordable guitar pedals. I’ve tried several of their pedals, and most of them felt unremarkable to me. But the Mellow Drive is an exception. It’s a warm, interesting overdrive that can also be multi-voiced thanks to the Voice knob. I liked it immediately. I even sold my pedal collection at one point, but later bought this one again because I started missing it. This is a case where something cheap can be truly great. The pedal's circuit is inspired by the legendary Hermida Audio ZenDrive and, consequently, the sound of Dumble amplifiers, made famous by players like Eric Clapton and Robben Ford. This explains its character: smooth, warm, with harmonically rich overdrive rather than a harsh "screamer" mid-hump. For these captures, the Volume knob was left at a fixed position and does not affect the captures. The Tone knob was set to neutral/center. I only used the Drive and Voice knobs. The Voice knob was set to three positions: far left (Voice 1), center (Voice 2), and far right (Voice 3). The Drive knob was captured in two positions — Low and High. This resulted in six captures: Voice 1 (far left): 1. Low 2. High Voice 2 (center): 3. Low 4. High Voice 3 (far right): 5. Low 6. High Each capture is a separate file. All sounds are normalized — levels are matched between captures. The gain stages are carefully matched to provide maximum flexibility. The Voice modes offer different shades of presence and brightness, while the Low/High levels take you from light breakup to thicker, singing overdrive.
