Description

Here are some captures of the Friedman JJ Jr Head. This is a great sounding 20w head that is no longer in production. BE & JBE modes sound great with a 4x12 Marshall Greenback IR. Also works well with V30 IRs. Clean Channel is based on a Vox-style circuit and works better with an open back 2x12 IR (Celestion Blues, Greenbacks, etc.) The clean channel doesn't really do super uber clean. But it does offer a nice variety of tones. As the volume gets turned up it gets more crunchy. I like to boost amps with overdrive pedals for more aggressive tones. I usually use separate pedals/captures in conjunction with my amp tones for a more modular/flexible approach. I've included some captures with JBE & BE boosted with a Way Huge Green Rhino (Tube Screamer-style circuit) and a Boss Super Overdrive to give you an idea of what the amp sounds like boosted. I've also included some captures of the Clean channel boosted with a Diamond Marquis Germanium Treble Booster for some Queen-inspired mid-forward tones. My preference is to keep names as short as possible using this format: AMP_CHANNEL_BOOST_OTHER AMP JJJR -Friedman JJ Junior CHANNEL CL - Clean Channel BE - BE Mode - Lower gain, less compressed JBE - JBE Mode - Higher gain, more compressed BOOST NB - No Boost (no pedals in signal chain) GR - Way Huge Green Rhino (boosting amp) MGR - Diamond Marquis (germanium treble booster) SD1 - Boss Super Overdrive SD-1 (boosting amp) OTHER e = Internal note to identify which capture method iteration I've used # - Lower # = lower gain, Higher # = higher gain
