Description

Captures of my Supercool Pedals "The Thneed". The Thneed is a Klon-style overdrive with a few tricks up its sleeve. Four clipping diode options plus a "Diode Lift" option, and an "Unless" switch, which introduces more bass frequencies into the gain stage, and completely changes the feel and texture of the pedal. Treble boosts or cuts the high frequencies above 1kHz (with the neutral position being right at noon), Level is the overall output, and Gain controls the amount of signal fed into the op amp and clipping, as well as controlling the clean blend of the pedal. This pack contains captures of the "Diode Lift" mode, so the gain knob just adds raw op amp clipping, and is the most transparent for boosting a gained up amp. (Stay tuned for packs with all four other clipping options!) All captures calibrated at 14 dBu input, and each capture output has been calibrated respectively. All captures have the Level knob set to max, with varying degrees of brightness and gain. The gain levels are labelled A, B, and C. A = Gain @ noon B = Gain @ 3 o'clock C = Gain @ Max The brightness levels are labeled 1 through 5. 1 = Treble @ 9 o'clock 2 = Treble @ 10:30 (between 9 o'clock and noon) 3 = Treble @ noon (neutral, no boost or cut) 4 = Treble @ 1:30 (between noon and 3 o'clock 5 = Treble @ 3:00 Captures labelled "UN" have the "Unless" switch engaged. The "Cln" label means it is the "Diode Lift" option, as in "clean boost". The "Unless" switch is less noticeable in the Diode Lift mode, but I figured I'd give you the option anyways. It has more of an effect with the pedal at higher gain levels. I decided to try for an in-depth pack, without going insane. For that reason, I didn't include the extremes of the Treble knob, and limited the Gain knob to a few of my favourite boost options. Signal chain: Avid Mbox Studio (line out) > Radial Reamp Station (reamp box) > Thneed > Avid Mbox Studio (instrument input) I love the way these turned out, so let me know what you think! Thanks for checking em out!
