Description

I have shared captures of the Model T-3 signal tracer from Heathkit. It is a simple tube amp with 4” test speaker meant for electronics troubleshooting. With single coils, the tone is mostly clean for most of the volume range. Humbuckers will hit the input harder. The T-3 uses the following tubes for the amplification: 12SH7 (preamp), 12A6 (power), 6X5 (Rectifier). The amp also has a 1629 magic eye tube for visual feedback. The main modification was to re-wire the B+ terminal to the OT secondary in order to make the Amp Head captures. There is a single Gain control to adjust loudness, like my EICO 145 signal tracer. The Heathkit’s tube circuit and speaker sounds distinctly different than the EICO. Amp Captures are denoted by the DI prefix. I incrementally captured the Gain from 5 to 10. Add an IR after these captures. I’ve uploaded IRs of the T-3’s test speaker. I like using the EICO speaker IRs better for this amp. Even larger speaker IRs are even better. I connected my reamp box into an Ebtech Hum Eliminator before the T-3’s input for the “A” chain. Captures without the Ebtech were too noisy to be useful. The T-3 does not have a resistor to set input impedance. The input signal basically gets passed to the volume pot. I captured a “B” chain in which I used a Wampler Tumnus Deluxe in buffered bypass before the Ebtech Hum Eliminator. These captures are labeled with a BUF suffix. The Standard files should load in NAM hardware loaders. Input/output calibration metadata for 11.5dBu send/11.7dBu return provided.
