Description

I made Amp+Cab captures of my Mesa Badlander 50 combo's Crunch Channel plugged into a Mesa Traditional 4x12 with V30s. Same approach as my recent Crush Channel pack. The Crunch Channel is rounder, darker, and lower gain than the Crush Channel. The Crush Channel almost sounds like it has a TS-type boost in front of it in comparison. Two gain settings (8, 10) were used. Tone settings are provided in the following order, approximated from 0-10: Treble - Mid - Bass - Presence Tone Setting 1: T-6 M-6 B-7 P-6 Tone Setting 2: T-7 M-4 B-8 P-7 Setting 1 is identical to the one in my recent Crush Channel pack. I added some more treble to Setting 2 to make it sound a bit more scooped. These Full Rigs were recorded simultaneously with my Amp Head captures (see Linked Tones). Speaker Positions are LL – lower left, LR – lower right, UL – upper left, UR – upper right The UL and LL speakers are a bit more scooped than the UR and LR speakers, with more bite on the high end. The UL/LL mic position are further from the cap center than the LR/UR positions. The SM57 mic positions are as follows: UL and LL speakers a - 0.50” (~1.3cm) from the cap center, on the grille b - 0.75" (~1.9cm) from the cap center, on the grille c - 1.00” (~2.5cm) from the cap center, on the grille LR and UR speakers a - 0.00" from the cap center, on the grille b - 0.50” (~1.3cm) from the cap center, on the grille While the LL SM57a and UL SM57a positions may have been too harsh sounding with the Crush Channel pack, the same positions with the Crunch Channel are a bit more rounded off in the presence frequencies. The shortened TTSV11 file from The Tone Scientist was used. https://www.tone3000.com/thetonescientist Input/output calibration metadata for 11.5dBu send/11.7dBu return was filled in during TONE3000 training.
