Description

The ZVex Mastotron is a Vexter series adaptation of the Box of Rock pedal that is meant to emulate a Marshall JTM45. The extra Subs switch takes some bass away to more closely emulate Lead-spec Marshall tones in pedal format. Quick Start and Recomendations: I like to load the pedal up “ZVex Distortion V8 T-5 D-5 S-3.nam”. I’ve been using this pedal in front of my Fender Super Reverb’s normal channel for a while now. In the NAM world, I “BFSR Nrm V4 T-5 B-4 SRL 6dB.nam” from my Fender Super Reverb Normal Channel pack for a clean pedal platform sound. https://www.tone3000.com/tones/fender-65-super-reverb-reissue-normal-channel-68651 I load up “P10 UR 4x10 SM57 2.75in 0.0in.wav” from my Fender Super Reverb IR pack. https://www.tone3000.com/tones/fender-65-super-reverb-4x10-jensen-p10r-61705 Pedal Controls: Subs on the 3 setting is the stock sound on the ZVex Box of Rock. Pick a setting with Subs set to 1 or 2 for a thinner sound. Settings are in the following order, approximated from 0-10: (V)ol - (T)one - (D)rive - (S)ubs The Tone knob between 5-8 and Drive between 5-10 were the most useful sounds for me. I captured the Hi Gain switch while the Drive was set on 10 (Hi suffix in filename) as a record of how much gain is possible from this pedal. Signal Chain: RME UCX II Line Out - United Studio Technologies Replay Box at 11.5dBu ZVex Distortion - RME UCX II In at 11.7dBu I recommend setting the Gateway Output mode to Raw or Calibrated if you use the auto input calibration feature. I generally use the calibrated modes in the TONE3000 and NAM Universal II plugins.
